There are already plenty of books on childbirth on the market, but it seemed that a few more books were needed. Then the idea developed… and two books are now finished and three more are in development. The whole project has the support of over 200 women, men, children and professionals from around the world. One of the key professionals involved is Dr Michel Odent, who is most famous for having popularised water birth in the 1970s, after it was originally dreamt up in Russia. Another professional, Sarah J Buckley – an Australian GP and researcher – has contributed material which reflects both her research and her experience as a mother. Midwives have also contributed accounts and comments and the women who are the main contributors come from all walks of life. Heads of Midwifery and obstetricians have also acted as advisors.
